Doelman Luciano da Silva is er zondag niet bij in de thuiswedstrijd tegen VVV-Venlo. Hij kampt met een knieblessure. De inzetbaarheid van Danny Holla (rug/hamstring) en Oluwafemi Ajilore (hamstring) is nog een vraagteken. Tim Sparv debuteert bij de selectie.
Naast Luciano ontbreken de geblesseerden Ondrej Svejdik (kruisband), Petter Andersson (kruisband), Sepp De Roover (kruisband), Jeffrey Rijsdijk (kraakbeenletsel) en Theo Lucius (kuitbeen) en de geschorsten Leandro Bacuna en Darryl Lachman. Ook Koen van de Laak (enkel) is er nog niet bij. Tim Sparv maakte afgelopen woensdag speelminuten voor Finland en debuteert zondag bij de wedstrijdselectie na zijn liesblessure.
Trainer Ron Jans over de nieuwe blessuregevallen: “We hebben alle reden tot klagen, maar dat doen we niet. We willen de lijn van het goede spel van de laatste maanden doorzetten en gaan zondag voor een goed resultaat. Het spel is door de situatie wel iets minder belangrijk dat het resultaat. Vorige week hebben we spektakel gezien, maar geen punten gehaald. De drie punten staan komende zondag voorop en hoe we die behalen, is even wat minder belangrijk. Een klinische overwinning, zoals tegen ADO Den Haag is ook welkom. We moeten meer rendement halen uit de aanvallen en minder makkelijk goals weggeven.”
