Voor het eerst sinds november 2007 zal FC Groningen in de Eredivisie aantreden met een basisopstelling zonder Goran Lovre daarin. De aanvallende middenvelder laat zich behandelen aan de knie waarvan hij al een aantal maanden last heeft.
Afgelopen woensdag heeft Lovre de knoop doorgehakt zich te laten behandelen aan vocht in de knie. Daarmee speelde hij al een aantal maanden. Op een MRI-scan was geen schade te zien en de enige optie leek het ‘schoonmaken’ van het gewricht. Een arts bij het nationale team van Servië heeft echter onlangs een succesvolle methode gevonden om Dejan Stankovic van eenzelfde kwaal af te helpen. Lovre is inmiddels naar Belgrado afgereisd om een dergelijke behandeling te ondergaan. De behandelwijze waaraan geen operatie te pas komt, duurde bij Stankovic ongeveer een week. Daarna kon hij weer klachtenvrij spelen.
Ron Jans: “Deze methode kan dus succesvol zijn. Er is natuurlijk geen garantie voor Goran dat het herstel bij hem op dezelfde manier verloopt. Wat dat betreft is het eerste zien en dan geloven, maar ik hoop natuurlijk op de beste afloop. Hij was al tijden in zijn hoofd bezig met de blessure en dat ging uiteindelijk ook ten koste van zijn spel. Goran speelt altijd met veel inzet, maar hij kon niet meer het niveau brengen wat we van hem kennen.”
De ziekenboeg is verder ongewijzigd. Petter Andersson, Nicklas Pedersen, Jeroen Veldmate en Sepp De Roover zijn er dus nog niet bij. Vanuit de Beloften zitten Pepijn Kluin en Dennis Krohne bij ‘de achttien’. Alle internationals zijn fit teruggekeerd van de verplichtingen bij hun nationale teams.
