Goran Lovre is fit teruggekeerd van een bliksembezoek aan Belgrado. Hij bezocht daar de arts die hem eerder dit seizoen ook van zijn knieklachten af hielp. Oluwafemi Ajilore is hersteld van liesklachten en keert ook terug bij ‘de achttien’ voor het tweede play-offduel met Utrecht.
Middenvelder Koen van de Laak sloeg afgelopen maandag een training over, maar bleek woensdag fit bij de afsluitende training in de voorbereiding op het duel van donderdagmiddag in Euroborg. De geblesseerden Petter Andersson en Nicklas Pedersen ontbreken nog, net als Gibril Sankoh die de voorlaatste wedstrijd van zijn schorsing zal uitzitten.
Donderdag naar finale Afgelopen zaterdag kwam Groningen driemaal terug van een achterstand. Trainer Ron Jans: “Het was weer het bewijs dat deze ploeg zich prima kan terugknokken in wedstrijden. Het leek echter wel alsof de ploeg elke keer als we op achterstand kwamen extra gas kon geven. En daar zit natuurlijk ook een mindere kant aan, want voor dat beetje extra moet natuurlijk niet speciaal een tegengoal nodig zijn.”
“Hoe Utrecht dit duel zal ingaan? Zij hebben ook aan een overwinning genoeg om de finale te halen. Het zal van het scoreverloop afhangen hoe open de wedstrijd wordt. Beide ploegen hebben eventueel nog een herkansing op zondag in Euroborg, maar wij willen graag donderdag al naar de finale!”
Voorwedstrijd Komende donderdag zal een voorwedstrijd worden gespeeld tussen de D2-teams van FC Groningen en FC Utrecht. Het duel begint om 12.35 uur en is te bezoeken voor iedereen met een geldig toegangsbewijs voor het duel dat om 14.30 uur begint. FC Groningen D2 werd kampioen van de Tweede Divisie F. De ploeg uit Utrecht werd kampioen van de Hoofdklasse C in het District West I en promoveert daardoor naar de Tweede Divisie A.
