Rasmus Lindgren is tot en met zondag tijdelijk terug in Groningen. Hij traint tot en met vrijdag mee met de selectie van Robert Maaskant, zal zaterdag een individuele training afwerken, zaterdagavond in Amsterdam het competitieduel met Ajax bezoeken en zondag weer terug vliegen naar Zweden. Lindgren sluit vanaf vrijdag 4 januari definitief aan bij groep.
Lindgren tekende vorige week vrijdag een contract voor 3,5 jaar bij FC Groningen. De 28-jarige middenvelder keert in januari terug bij de Trots van het Noorden, waarvoor hij in de periode van augustus 2005 tot januari 2008 al 98 officiële wedstrijden speelde. Lindgren keerde na zijn presentatie in Euroborg direct terug naar Zweden, maar is nu weer een paar dagen in Nederland om zaken te regelen. Zaken regelen “Ik oriënteer me dezer dagen op een woning in Groningen en dien ook nog wat andere zaken te regelen”, vertelt Lindgren. “Het is dan goed en logisch dat ik ook alvast weer wat mee train. Op deze manier leer ik de groep al wat meer kennen en ik wil fit zijn als we in januari aan de voorbereiding op de tweede seizoenshelft beginnen.”
Lindgren, die sinds het ontbinden van zijn contract bij Red Bull Salzburg – eind september van dit jaar – zonder club zat, gaat zondag weer terug naar Zweden. “Ik heb al die tijd gewoon door getraind en ben fit. In afwachting van een nieuwe club na 1 januari had ik met mijn gezin al een vakantie gepland en dat gaan we ook gewoon doen. Dat klinkt misschien wat raar als je al die tijd zonder club hebt gezeten, maar ik mag toch niet eerder dan in het nieuwe jaar onder contract staan bij een nieuwe club.”
