FC Groningen kijkt vanavond terug op de wedstrijden van het eerste elftal en de Beloften tegen respectievelijk PSV en Jong AZ.
Het elftal van trainer Robert Maaskant verloor zondag in Euroborg met 3-1 van PSV. Toch was FC Groningen niet geheel kansloos. Individuele fouten aan de kant van de FC werden op geroutineerde wijze afgestraft door de Eindhovenaren. Volgens aanvoerder Kees Kwakman en centrale verdediger Johan Kappelhof mag FC Groningen die fouten niet meer maken, zeker niet tegen een kampioenskandidaat PSV. Positief is de veerkracht die de ploeg in het begin van de tweede helft toonde en waarin PSV het een periode moeilijk had.
Michael de Leeuw maakte tegen PSV zijn debuut voor FC Groningen. Dat werd meteen opgeluisterd met een verkiezing tot Essent Man of the Match. De FC Groningen-fans waardeerden de inzet van De Leeuw al leverde dat voor hem helaas geen overwinning met zijn ploeg op. En dat gaf de aanvallende middenvelder gemengde gevoelens want hij had liever als winnaar de bloemen van de Man of the Match in ontvangst genomen.
De Beloften gaven de goede competitiestart maandagavond een prima vervolg door thuis met 3-1 te winnen van Jong AZ. Een tegenvallende eerste helft werd gevolgd door een goede tweede helft waarin Jong FC Groningen wist te scoren via Paco van Moorsel, Suk Hyun-Jun en Hilal Ben Moussa. De ploeg van trainer Dick Lukkien staat nu tweede in Poule A met zeven punten uit drie wedstrijden. In FCG TV is een samenvatting te zien van de wedstrijd tussen Jong FC Groningen en Jong AZ.
FC Groningen TV wordt vanavond om 18.00 uur uitgezonden op Eredivisie Live 1. De herhaling is om 19.00 uur, 21.00 uur en 23.00 uur te zien op EL 2. Morgen wordt FCG TV om 08.30 uur en 13.15 uur herhaald op EL 1.
