Voor Henk Bos is het seizoen 2013/2014 voorlopig al weer over voor het goed en wel begonnen is. De 20-jarige aanvaller blijkt afgelopen zaterdag in de allereerste oefenwedstrijd van FC Groningen van het nieuwe seizoen in Uithuizen zijn voorste kruisband in de linkerknie te hebben afgescheurd.
Een onderzoek in het Martini Ziekenhuis in Groningen bevestigde woensdag de vermoedens van de medische staf. Bos zal in ieder geval tot en met de winterstop zijn uitgeschakeld. De Groninger zag vorige week nog af van een verhuurperiode naar het gepromoveerde SC Cambuur. De aanvaller wilde in de voorbereiding gaan voor zijn kansen in Euroborg. Vrees Bos stond afgelopen zaterdag amper een kwartier binnen de lijnen in de tweede helft van FC Groningens openingswedstrijd van het seizoen tegen RWE Eemsmond (eindstand 0-15) toen hij na een actie in het strafschopgebied geblesseerd naar de grond ging. De uit de eigen jeugdopleiding afkomstige Bos kreeg aan de achterlijn op het veld van Noordpool UFC enkele minuten eerste hulp van de medische staf, maar moest uiteindelijk per brancard van het veld worden gedragen. Direct bestond de vrees voor een ernstige knieblessure. Indien de knie de komende weken voldoende tot rust is gekomen, zal eind juli een operatie plaatsvinden aan de linkerknie van Bos. Bakker Bos is de tweede speler binnen de FC-selectie, die maanden is uitgeschakeld met een zware knieblessure. Nick Bakker scheurde begin april van dit jaar de voorste kruisband in de linkerknie af in de competitiewedstrijd van Jong FC Groningen tegen Jong sc Heerenveen. De 20-jarige linker centrale verdediger werd hieraan op maandag 27 mei door dokter Brouwer in het Martini Ziekenhuis in Groningen geopereerd. Bakker revalideert momenteel van zijn blessure.
