Vanaf woensdag 12 maart start de derde editie van de FC Groningen Buurt Battle. Dit acht weken durende project is één van de vele maatschappelijke projecten van de Stichting FC Groningen in de Maatschappij.
Met de FC Groningen Buurt Battle zet FC Groningen zich samen met de partners Menzis, Nijestee, Rabobank, Plegt-Vos, Fier4Grunn, gemeente Groningen, gemeente Hoogezand-Sappemeer en gemeente Assen in voor een aantal belangrijke zaken. Zo willen de partners met dit project de sociale cohesie, de ouderbetrokkenheid, de leefstijl en het terugdringen van overlast aanpakken. Daarnaast zijn normen en waarden en sportparticipatie belangrijke aspecten binnen het project. Dit alles gebeurt in tien verschillende wijken, verdeeld over Groningen, Hoogezand en dit jaar voor het eerst ook in Assen. Punten De komende acht weken ligt de uitvoering van de FC Groningen Buurt Battle in handen van professionals van het Bslim-project, sportteam Hoogezand en Team Sport Assen. De deelnemers volgen trainingen en zullen buurtbijdrages uitvoeren. Hiermee kunnen ze punten verdienen om uiteindelijk in het wijkteam te komen. VIP-arrangement Elke wijk levert twee teams, die op woensdag 30 april zullen strijden tegen de andere wijken. Uiteindelijk zal er per leeftijdscategorie van 10 tot en met 12 jaar en 13 tot en met 15 jaar één winnend team komen, dat een VIP-arrangement wint voor de competitiewedstrijd FC Groningen – Heracles Almelo, op zaterdag 3 mei.
