FC Groningen heeft twee jonge Griekse spelers op proef. Het duo trainde op vrijdag mee met de eerste selectie, maar zal zaterdag - in tegenstelling tot eerdere berichten - niet in actie komen tegen het combinatieteam van Bedum.
De Griekse spelers, een spits en een linksbenige speler voor de linkerkant, komen eventueel in aanmerking voor een plek in de selectie van Jong FC Groningen en zijn dus niet in beeld voor versterking van de selectie van Ron Jans. Omdat de Beloften nog niet in training zijn en er toch een beeld gevormd moet worden van de kwaliteiten van de twee spelers, trainen ze op dit moment mee met de eerste selectie. Hoe lang dit het geval zal zijn, wordt nader bekeken. In actie In Bedum zullen zaterdag de 21 fitte spelers die momenteel in training zijn minimaal een helft voetballen. Pepijn Kluin zal door een blessure niet meedoen. Ook derde keeper Leon ter Wielen komt normaal gesproken niet in actie. Zoals bekend ontbreken, naast de revaliderende Petter Andersson, ook nog de afwezige internationals Marcus Berg, Andreas Granqvist, Tom Hiariej en Oluwafemi Ajilore. Sepp De Roover is afwezig vanwege zijn huwelijk in Florence.
Het eerste oefenduel van het seizoen 2009/2010 begint om 15.00 uur in Bedum. De kassa’s zijn open vanaf 15.00 uur.
