Jong FC Groningen heeft maandagavond met 1-1 gelijkgespeeld tegen Jong Heracles Almelo. Op Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn scoorde Lorenzo Burnet na rust voor de thuisploeg. De gasten uit Almelo kwamen in blessuretijd met een man minder toch nog langszij.
Jong FC Groningen en Jong Heracles Almelo spelen beide in de top van de competitie. De ploeg van trainer Paul Raveneau is zelfs nog ongeslagen dit seizoen en bleef dat ook maandagavond. In de eerste helft was Jong FC Groningen de onderliggende partij en kreeg het alleen in de beginfase een kans via Kevin Mennega. Jong Heracles was gevaarlijker en kreeg de meeste mogelijkheden op een doelpunt. Met name Edwin Gyasi had veel dreiging richting het Groningen-doel. Daar keepte Luciano da Silva echter een attente wedstrijd en de Braziliaanse goalie hield zijn doel dan ook schoon. Meer vat Na rust kreeg Jong FC Groningen meer vat op het spel en ook mogelijkheden op een doelpunt. Het was Lorenzo Burnet die na een half uur spelen via de linkerflank door kwam en raak schoot. Toen Heracles even later ook nog eens met tien man kwam te staan na een tweede gele kaart voor Leon van Dijk leken de Groningse Beloften de wedstrijd te kunnen uitspelen.
In blessuretijd dook Jens Jurn Streutker echter ineens voor Luciano en tikte een voorzet vanaf de rechterflank binnen, 1-1.
