Matias Jones meldt zich vanaf maandagmorgen bij FC Emmen. De 21-jarige vleugelaanvaller zal zich de komende periode oriënteren bij de club van trainer Joop Gall, die op zijn beurt de Uruguayaan van dichtbij aan het werk kan zien.
Jones zal met FC Emmen op trainingskamp gaan. De Drentse club uit de Jupiler League vertrekt dinsdag naar Belek in Turkije. Daarna zal bekeken worden of er van een overgang van de aanvaller naar Emmen sprake zal zijn. Eerder nam FC Emmen voor de tweede seizoenshelft Tom Hiariej al op huurbasis over van FC Groningen. Gepasseerd Jones speelde sinds zijn komst naar Euroborg, in de zomer van 2011, twaalf officiële wedstrijden in het groen-witte shirt. Daarin scoorde hij één keer. Dit seizoen komt Jones vooralsnog niet voor in de plannen van trainer Robert Maaskant. Jones werd gepasseerd voor de 24-koppige selectie voor het trainingskamp in Oliva, waar FC Groningen tot en met zaterdag verblijft.
