Trainer Ron Jans zal vanaf komend seizoen voor de NOS als analist aanschuiven bij wedstrijden in de Champions League.
Zijn Feyenoord-collega Mario Been neemt ook een groot deel van de 25 speelavonden voor zijn rekening. Daarnaast is Leo Beenhakker op minder regelmatige basis aanwezig in de NOS-studio’s.
Ron Jans over zijn nieuwe nevenfunctie: “Al een aantal keren eerder was ik gebeld, maar dat was steeds kort voor een wedstrijd. Nu is er ruim van tevoren contact opgenomen door Arno Vermeulen en heb ik besloten het te doen. Ik zal tien tot twaalf keer – met name op de dinsdagen – naar Hilversum afreizen. De dinsdag is doorgaans onze vrije dag bij FC Groningen, dus dat geeft me de gelegenheid om er met mijn vrouw Marjo een dagje uit van te maken.”
“Als ze me hadden gevraagd voor de Eredivisie, had ik dat niet gedaan. Daarmee ben ik natuurlijk al dagelijks bezig en ik praat liever niet in het openbaar over het werk van mijn collega’s in Nederland. Maar een analyse geven op de Champions League-duels lijkt me erg leuk. Er verandert niet zoveel, behalve dat ik nu niet meer thuis in Schipborg maar in Hilversum kijk.”
