Het inhaalduel van FC Groningen onder-21 met sc Heerenveen is vervroegd. De Derby van het Noorden wordt dinsdagmiddag (30 november) om 15.00 uur gespeeld op Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn. Aanvankelijk stond de wedstrijd voor 18.00 uur op het programma, maar vanwege de aangescherpte coronamaatregelen is amateursport na 17.00 uur niet toegestaan. De wedstrijden van de Opleiding, waartoe ook FC Groningen onder-21 behoort, vallen onder de amateursport.
De inhaalwedstrijd is belangrijk in de strijd om het kampioenschap in de najaarscompetitie van Divisie 1. Op de ranglijst neemt de ploeg van trainer/coach/manager Sander van Gessel de tweede plaats in, achter Almere City. Na de 3-0 winst afgelopen weekend op de koploper uit Flevoland is de achterstand teruggebracht tot 3 punten, met een wedstrijd minder gespeeld. Dat scheve beeld wordt morgenmiddag rechtgetrokken als onder-21 om 15.00 uur aantreedt voor het inhaalduel met sc Heerenveen. De Friezen zijn met 6 punten hekkensluiter in de Divisie.
Live uitgezonden Mediahuis Noord zal de Derby van het Noorden voor beloftenteams dinsdagmiddag live uitzenden op het premium kanaal van het Dagblad van het Noorden. Abonnees van de krant hebben gratis toegang tot dit online kanaal op DvhN.nl. De Friese abonnees van de Leeuwarder Courant kunnen terecht op LC.nl. Dit is een extra mooie service omdat er vanwege de geldende coronamaatregelen geen publiek bij sportwedstrijden aanwezig mag zijn.
FC Groningen zendt nadien op het eigen YouTube-kanaal een ruime samenvatting uit van het inhaalduel, beschikbaar gesteld door Mediahuis Noord. Uiteraard zal dinsdag onveranderd op de social mediakanalen van de Opleiding – waaronder FC Groningen onder-21 valt – verslag worden gedaan middels opstellingen, tussen- en eindstanden.
