In FC Groningen TV reageren trainer Pieter Huistra en aanvaller Suk Hyun-Jun op het mooie nieuws dat FC Groningen komende zomer mee gaat doen aan het prestigieuze toernooi om de Peace Cup. De uitzending begint vanavond om 17.55 uur op Eredivisie Live 2.
Van 17 tot en met 22 juli gaat FC Groningen de strijd aan met HSV, Sunderland en het organiserende Seongnam Ilhwa FC. Voor Suk is het, behalve een terugkeer in zijn thuisland, ook een kans om zijn ploeggenoten te laten zien hoe mooi Zuid-Korea is. Want tot nu toe geloofden zijn teamgenoten hem niet.
Afgelopen woensdag was er in Euroborg voor winnaars van de Vriendenloterij een meet and greet met de eerste selectie van FC Groningen. De winnaars gingen lunchen met de spelers en trainers, kregen een bal met handtekeningen en gingen daarna met de selectie op de foto. Dankzij de Vriendenloterij ontving FC Groningen vorig jaar 80.000 euro voor de jeugdopleiding.
Later die woensdag was het tijd voor het jaarlijkse feest van de Junior Club. Ruim negenhonderd leden maakten gebruik van de kans om mee te feesten in een tot speelparadijs omgetoverde Sportcentrum Kardinge. Het feest werd opgeluisterd met de aanwezigheid van Kees Kwakman en Matias Jones. Beide spelers ontkwamen er niet aan om veel handtekeningen uit te delen aan de aanwezige leden van de Junior Club.
Zondag gaat FC Groningen in de ArenA op bezoek bij Ajax. FC Groningen heeft het traditioneel moeilijk in Amsterdam. De laatste keer dat FC Groningen met een goed resultaat naar huis ging, was op 2 september 2007 toen er dankzij twee doelpunten van Marcus Berg met 2-2 gelijk werd gespeeld. FC Groningen zal er alles aan doen om die prestatie zondag te evenaren, ook om het imago van de FC weer wat op te poetsen gezien de huidige stand op de ranglijst. Suk heeft al bedacht wat hij gaat doen als hij zondag tegen zijn oude ploeg gaat scoren.
FC Groningen TV is vanavond om 17.55 uur te zien op Eredivisie Live 2. De herhaling wordt uitgezonden om 22.55 uur, ook op Eredivisie Live 2.
