Ajdin Hrustic speelt deze maand met Jong Australië op het continentaal kampioenschap van Azië. De middenvelder speelt in gastland China achtereenvolgens tegen Syrië, Vietnam en Zuid-Korea.
Momenteel is de spelersgroep van Jong Australië op trainingskamp in de voorbereiding op het toernooi. Op donderdag 11 januari is Syrië onder-23 de eerste tegenstander in Kunshan. Drie dagen later volgt de ontmoeting met Vietnam. Op woensdag 17 januari is de groepswedstrijd tegen Zuid-Korea. Ook deze wedstrijd wordt gespeeld in Kunshan.
In de 23-koppige selectie van bondscoach Ante Milicic is Hrustic één van de acht spelers die competitie spelen in Europa. De nummers 1 en 2 van de vier groepen plaatsen zich voor de kwartfinales. De finale van het toernooi wordt op zaterdag 27 januari gespeeld. Japan is titelverdediger.
Hrustic ontbreekt door de deelname aan het toernooi op het trainingskamp van FC Groningen in Spanje. Afhankelijk van de resultaten van Jong Australië mist hij ook de start van de tweede competitiehelft in de Eredivisie.
