Patrick Haas komt niet naar FC Groningen. De 18-jarige Oostenrijkse middenvelder speelt in het Beloftenteam van Rapid Wien en was onlangs een week lang op proef in Euroborg.
Haas maakte een positieve indruk op de technische staf tijdens zijn verblijf bij FC Groningen. De club ging dan ook in gesprek met Rapid Wien en de zaakwaarnemer van Haas om te kijken naar de mogelijkheden hem naar Groningen te halen. Uiteindelijk hebben gesprekken tussen de partijen ertoe geleid dat zijn komst naar Euroborg van de baan is. Voorwaarden “We konden het niet eens worden over de voorwaarden waaronder Haas in Groningen zou moeten komen te voetballen”, licht manager technische zaken Henk Veldmate toe. “Alle partijen waren weliswaar van goede wil, maar zowel wij als Rapid Wien wilden voor de langere termijn grip houden op de carrière van Haas. Als je iemand uit Oostenrijk haalt, moet er wat ons betreft meer zekerheid bestaan over wat er na een jaar met zo’n jongen gaat gebeuren. Daar kwamen we met elkaar helaas uiteindelijk niet uit.”
Haas is een linksbenige middenvelder en geboren in Wenen. Hij is jeugdinternational voor Oostenrijk. Hij kwam uit in Onder-17 en nu in Onder-18.
