FC Groningen speelt zaterdagmiddag in Mussel de Groningse derby tegen SC Veendam. De wedstrijd begint om 15.00 uur op Sportpark de Slenk van SV Mussel. De kassa’s gaan open om 13.30 uur.
Voor FC Groningen is het de vijfde oefenwedstrijd in de voorbereiding op het seizoen 2011/2012. De ploeg van Pieter Huistra won afgelopen dinsdag met 3-2 van de Griekse nummer 4, PAOK Saloniki. Zaterdagmiddag is de nummer 4 van de Jupiler League de tegenstander van groen-wit. Ziekenboeg Bij FC Groningen is de Zuid-Koreaan Suk Hyun-Jun niet inzetbaar. Hij is geblesseerd. Ook Thomas Enevoldsen is niet van de partij. Hij raakte woensdag in een oefenduel met Jong FC Groningen geblesseerd aan de enkel. Verdediger Jonas Ivens is wel weer van de partij. De Belg is hersteld van een bovenbeenblessure.
Ook tegenstander SC Veendam speelt de vijfde wedstrijd van de voorbereiding. De Oost-Groningers kwamen tot dusver viermaal in actie tegen amateurclubs. Wagenborger Boys, Veendam 1894, Fc Grootegast en VV Meeden werden met de totaalcijfers 39-0 aan de kant geschoven. Bij de Veenkolonialen behoort onder anderen Danny Menting tot de selectie. Hij wordt dit seizoen verhuurd voor Groningen. Kaartverkoop Het duel staat onder leiding van arbiter Eric Braamhaar. Hij zal worden geassisteerd door de heren Hessel Steegstra en Jermain Lapar.
