In FC Groningen TV is vanavond de apotheose te zien van de Dutch Open Mascotterun 2012. Ook is er aandacht voor The Knickerbockers, Theo Huizinga en de duels van de afgelopen twee dagen. De uitzending begint om 18.00 uur op Eredivisie Live 1.
In het kader van Walk for Life Groningen werd alweer voor de derde kaar de Mascotterun georganiseerd aan de boorden van het Hoornse Meer. FC Groningen mascotte Groby had zich wekenlang voorbereidt om ervoor te zorgen dat de felbegeerde cup in Groningen zou blijven. Hij moest daarvoor wel zien af te rekenen met de winnaar van vorig jaar, Sparta Piet, en de winnaar van 2010 Storky, de mascotte van ADO Den Haag.
Zaterdag ontving amateurvoetbalvereniging The Knickerbockers uit Groningen het Meer dan Voetbal Certificaat. The Knickerbockers had Kids United zaterdag uitgenodigd voor een voorwedstrijd en had speciaal voor dat moment geld ingezameld dat ten goede komt aan Kids United. De actie van The Knickerbockers is een voorbeeld voor andere amateurvoetbalverenigingen en daarom ontving The Knickerbockers het certificaat van Björn Boes van FC Groningen in de Maatschappij en Niek Hollewand van het amateurconvenant van FC Groningen.
Ook FC Groningen teammanager Theo Huizinga werd dit weekend in het zonnetje gezet. Omdat hij aan het einde van dit seizoen stopt na 36 jaar werkzaam te zijn geweest voor FC Groningen, ontving hij uit handen van Ajax clubman David Endt een Ajax-logo op sokkel. Voorafgaande aan Ajax – FC Groningen werd Huizinga op de middenstop toegesproken door Endt en kreeg Huizinga een mooi applaus van het aanwezige publiek in de ArenA.
De wedstrijd tussen Ajax en FC Groningen was daarna helaas minder succesvol gezien de 2-0 nederlaag. Toch kon FC Groningen aardig weerstand bieden aan de toekomstige kampioen van 2012. Lorenzo Burnet en Luciano de Silva verlieten dan ook met opgeheven hoofd het veld van de ArenA. Zij willen de laatste drie wedstrijden van de FC met een goed resultaat afsluiten.
Jong FC Groningen kon gisteravond niet voorkomen dat Jong FC Twente kampioen is geworden van de Beloften Eredivisie. In De Grolsch Veste won Jong FC Twente met 2-1, voldoende voor de Tukkers om het kampioensfeest te kunnen vieren. Voor de Beloften van de FC was Tim Keurntjes de doelpuntenmaker. Vanavond is in FCG TV een korte samenvatting te zien van het duel.
FC Groningen TV wordt vanavond om 18.00 uur uitgezonden op Eredivisie Live 1. De herhaling is te zien op Eredivisie Live 2 om 19.00 uur, 21.00 uur en 23.00 uur. Woensdag wordt FC Groningen TV om 08.45 uur en 13.20 uur herhaald op EL 1.
