Vanavond is om 21.00 uur op Fox Sports kanaal 3 de première te zien van de Fox Sports DOC: "Het grootste talent sinds de Koemannen." De ruim 28 minuten durende documentaire gaat over Patrick Ax die jarenlang de jongste debutant ooit was van FC Groningen.
Patrick Ax debuteerde in 1996 op zestien-jarige leeftijd voor FC Groningen. Hij was daarmee jarenlang de jongste debutant ooit van FC Groningen totdat Richairo Zivkovic hem eind 2012 afloste, Ax speelde in twee jaar tijd maar vijftien officiële wedstrijden voor FC Groningen.
De jaren bij de Trots van het Noorden werden vooral gekenmerkt door zware blessures. Uiteindelijk stopte Ax met betaald voetbal op 28-jarige leeftijd bij Go Ahead Eagles. Tegenwoordig is hij trainer van onder 13 van Vitesse. Ax werd bij FC Groningen door de kenners gezien als het grootste talent na de Koemannen, maar die belofte kon hij, mede door de blessures, nooit inlossen.
Samen met Ax, en met mensen die met hem werkten bij FC Groningen, wordt teruggekeken naar de periode dat hij bij FC Groningen voetbalde en waarom het hem uiteindelijk niet lukte om in het illustere rijtje van de Koemannen en Robben te komen.
De Fox Sports DOC gaat vanavond om 21.00 uur in première op Fox Sports 3. De herhaling is te zien op dinsdag om 14.00 uur op Fox Sports 5, woensdag om 21.00 uur op Fox Sports 1, donderdag om 23.30 uur op Fox Sports 1 en vrijdag om 09.30 uur op Fox Sports 1.
