Jong FC Groningen heeft woensdagavond in Gasselte een forse inbreng gehad in de wedstrijd van SC Veendam tegen hoofdklasser Nieuw-Buinen, die eindigde in 2-2.
Naast Henk Bos (na de pauze) en de verhuurde Luis Pedro da Silva Ferreira maakten liefst zeven Beloften hun opwachting in de ploeg van trainer Gert Heerkes. Yoëll van Nieff speelde de gehele wedstrijd. Stefan van der Lei, Paulo Francisco, Jesse Renken, Hilal Ben Moussa, Robby Holder en Alexander Christovao maakten na de pauze hun opwachting.
Oud-FC’er Danny Menting maakte vlak voor de pauze de eerste gelijkmaker (1-1). In de tweede helft bracht Robby Holder de SC Veendam voor 500 toeschouwers weer op gelijke hoogte: 2-2. Testspelers McKinnon en Kunc maakten na rust ook hun opwachting bij Veendam.
Op vrijdag 27 juli staan Jong FC Groningen en SC Veendam in Borgercompagnie juist tegenover elkaar. Dan heeft trainer Dick Lukkien van de Stad-Groninger Beloften ook weer spelers van de eerste selectie tot zijn beschikking. Komende vrijdag gaat het duel met BV Cloppenburg niet door. Op maandag 6 augustus speelt Jong FC bij WKE in Emmen.
