Dertien dagen voordat FC Groningen de leeftijd van veertig bereikt, heeft de club alvast zijn verjaarsfeestje gevierd. Vrijdagavond in Martiniplaza waren enkele duizenden fans aanwezig bij het jubileumfeest.
Om zeven uur opende de tot FC-tempel omgebouwde middenhal van Martiniplaza de deuren. In de eerste twee uren werden diverse oud-FC’ers op het podium ondervraagd door het Euroborg presentatie-duo Henk de Haan en Barend Beltman. Van Mariano Bombarda tot Peter Houtman en van Leen Swanenburg tot Martin Koeman kwamen de coryfeeën het podium op.
Na een toespraak van FC-directeur Hans Nijland kwam de Mystery Act tevoorschijn. Rooie Rinus moest het vijf jaar na hun eigen jubileumfeest in Martiniplaza deze keer doen zonder Pé Daalemmer in levende lijve. Een speciale straalverbinding met de ‘Costa Peseta’s’ maakte het mogelijk dat de traditioneel in ANOZ-shirt gehulde cultfiguur enkele hits uit eigen repertoire ten gehore bracht.
Vanaf negen uur ’s avonds tot in de kleine uurtjes was er ruim baan voor Jannes, het Triest Half Uurtje, DJ Maarten, Crazy Guitars, Erwin de Vries, Chris de Roo en ‘Topper’ Jeroen van der Boom. De avond werd georganiseerd in samenwerking tussen Organisatiebureau FC Groningen, Martiniplaza en FunFactory050.
