FC Groningen staat nog steeds met Hamburger SV in contact over de bij de transfer van Marcus Berg contractueel overeengekomen oefenwedstrijd tussen beide clubs in Euroborg. Een geschikte datum is voor dit jaar echter nog niet gevonden.
Zoals wellicht bekend is, zijn er vorig jaar bij de overgang van Berg naar Hamburg afspraken gemaakt over het spelen van een oefenwedstrijd tussen FC Groningen en de Duitse club. Tijdens de voorbereiding op het seizoen 2010/2011 hebben beide clubs echter geen geschikte datum kunnen vinden, die past binnen het programma van zowel FC Groningen als HSV. Financiële compensatie Beide clubs blijven hierover met elkaar in contact staan en zullen kijken naar een mogelijkheid in een later stadium, mogelijk volgend jaar. Lukt het met name HSV niet om voor volgend jaar de toegezegde en overeengekomen oefenwedstrijd in hun schema op te nemen, dan krijgt FC Groningen hiervoor een financiële compensatie. Uitgangspunt van de Trots van het Noorden is en blijft echter om het aantrekkelijke oefenduel in Euroborg op de kalender te krijgen.
