FC Groningen speelt zaterdagmiddag 21 juli de oefenwedstrijd tegen promovendus FC Emmen in Rolde. Het duel begint om 15.00 uur. De kassa’s openen om 13.30 uur. Tickets kosten 9 euro voor volwassenen en 4 euro voor jeugd tot 12 jaar.
Met dank aan Emmen-watcher Dirk van der Kaap is het duidelijk dat FC Groningen zaterdag alweer voor de 23ste keer oefent tegen FC Emmen. Van de 22 voorgaande ontmoetingen won Groningen er zestien. Drie keer won Emmen en drie keer eindigde de ontmoeting in een gelijkspel. De meest recente wedstrijden waren een 5-1 zege in Veendam en een 6-2 overwinning in Haren.
Momenteel spelen er bij de ploeg van oud-FC-trainer Dick Lukkien liefst elf spelers met een FC-verleden. FC Emmen speelde tot dusver vier oefenduels in de voorbereiding op het debuut in de Eredivisie. De amateurs van VV Emmen werden met 3-2 verslagen en vervolgens werd Rolder Boys opgerold: 0-10. Heracles was met 1-0 te sterk en woensdagavond werd er met 3-2 gewonnen van Jong AZ.
