Raad van Commissarissen, directie en management en alle medewerkers van FC Groningen wensen u fijne feestdagen!
De kantoren van FC Groningen en de Fan Corner Groningen zijn tot maandag 6 januari 2014 gesloten. Op woensdag 1 januari houdt de gemeente Groningen haar nieuwjaarsreceptie in Euroborg. Het nieuwjaarsfeest begint om 17.00 uur met een programma voor de kinderen en duurt tot 0.00 uur. Entree Als bewijs van entree geldt een unieke wintermuts met een tekening van Barbara Stok voor de prijs van 5 euro. Dit is inclusief een welkomstdrankje van Hooghoudt. De maximaal 2.000 entreemutsen zijn komende week nog te koop bij het VVV-kantoor op de Grote Markt en bij de kramen van De Belg Waterloo op de Grote Markt en Vismarkt. Onder begeleiding van een volwassene hebben kinderen tot 12 jaar gratis toegang (exclusief muts). Trainingskamp De eerste selectie komt op vrijdag 3 januari bij elkaar, maar zal niet op het trainingsveld verschijnen. Een dag later vertrekt het gezelschap voor een trainingskamp naar het Spaanse Oliva, waar de ploeg ook vorig jaar verbleef. De selectie van trainer Erwin van de Looi verblijft in de periode van zaterdag 4 januari tot en met 11 januari 2014 in het Hotel Oliva Nova Golf.
Vorig jaar speelde FC Groningen tegen de amateurs van AFC, het Belgische AA Gent en NAC Breda drie oefenwedstrijden in Oliva, gelegen aan de Spaanse oostkust, precies tussen Valencia en Alicante. Dit jaar zijn dezelfde twee profclubs opnieuw sparringpartners. Op zondag 5 januari oefent FC Groningen tegen AA Gent, op vrijdag 10 januari is NAC Breda de tegenstander. Voor beide oefenduels, die in Oliva worden gespeeld, is nog geen aanvangstijd vastgesteld. Dit zal evenwel in de middaguren zijn. Het complex van Hotel Oliva Nova Golf beschikt onder meer over vier sportvelden, direct grenzend aan het resort. Hervatting Na een trainingskamp van een week pakken spelers en staf op zaterdag 11 januari weer hun koffers om terug te vliegen naar Nederland. Een week later, op zaterdag 18 januari, hervat FC Groningen in Waalwijk de competitie met de uitwedstrijd tegen RKC (aftrap 19.45 uur).
