De jaarlijkse FC Groningen-toernooien voor onder-14-teams en tweedejaars D-pupillen op de velden van vv GOMOS in Norg houden na respectievelijk tien en vijftien edities op te bestaan.
Het Piet Fransen onder-14 toernooi kende in 2014 met Almere City C2 de laatste winnaar. Nu FC Groningen komend seizoen geen C2-team meer heeft, is besloten het toernooi niet voort te zetten.
Door gebrek aan belangstelling en vakantiespreiding bij deelnemers in de categorie D-pupillen, is ook achter het Martin Koeman D-pupillen toernooi na vijftien edities een punt gezet. Het blijkt al jaren lastig een hoogwaardig deelnemersveld aan de start te krijgen en ook dit jaar is de animo in augustus gering. FC Groningen D1 was afgelopen seizoen de laatste winnaar.
FC Groningen en vv GOMOS kijken met veel voldoening terug op de vijftien edities van het Martin Koeman-toernooi en de tien Piet Fransen-toernooien en danken alle medewerkers en deelnemers voor hun inzet.
