Gisteren speelde FC Groningen in een volle Euroborg tegen de huidige nummer 7 op de ranglijst; PEC Zwolle. FC Groningen, de huidige nummer 4 in de Eredivisie, had als missie; de ongeslagen status in eigen stadion te behouden.
En dat is gelukt. Ondanks dat FC Groningen sterk aan de begon wedstrijd, wist het niet te scoren. PEC Zwolle kwam ook niet aan scoren toe, waardoor een 0-0 gelijkspel de eindstand was.
In de eerste helft werd er goed naar voren gevoetbald en er werd druk uitgeoefend op de spelers van PEC. De eerste helft was FC Groningen duidelijk sterker met kansen van Zivkovic, Kirm, Kostic en Kieftenbeld. De keeper van PEC wist echter alle ballen uit zijn doel te houden.
In de tweede helft slaagden ook de wissels Michael de Leeuw (voor Kirm) en David Texeira ( voor Zivkovic) er niet in om de doelman van PEC te passeren. PEC Zwolle liet blijken tevreden te zijn met 1 punt en wist in verschillende situaties tijd te winnen om zo de 0-0 te behouden.
Na deze speelronde staat FC Groningen op de 5e plaats, gepasseerd door FC Twente. Volgende week speelt de FC tegen NAC Breda.
Voorafgaand aan de wedstrijd liepen 14 Junior Club leden aan de hand van een FC Groningen speler, scheids- of grensrechter het veld op, dit waren: Sven Sipkes, Ruben Hummel, Lars Meertens, Amber Remmers, Roy Rozema, Ruben Lokken, Lukas Jansen, Joey Schut, Nils Dijkema, Bram Makken, Tim van de Wal, Ruben Haaijer, Anouk Huisman en M.V. Brokke.
De volgende 4 leden van de Green White Bengels hebben meegedaan met de Shoot-out activiteit: Mark Haverkamp, Yoeri Haverkamp, Henk-Jan Smit en Steffan Boetje.
