De competitiewedstrijd FC Groningen- FC Utrecht van zaterdag 17 december zal in het teken staan van Make-A-Wish Nederland. Dit is vanaf 1 januari 2012 namelijk de nieuwe naam van Doe Een Wens Stichting Nederland, dat sinds 2010 maatschappelijk partner is van FC Groningen. Make-A-Wish Nederland vervult de liefste wens van kinderen tussen de 3 en 18 jaar met een levensbedreigend ziekte.
Voor Doe Een Wens Nederland is het van groot belang de naamswijziging en de naamsbekendheid van Make-A-Wish Nederland optimaal en breed onder de aandacht van het publiek te brengen. Hiertoe hebben de shirtsponsors van FC Groningen een groot gebaar gemaakt. Hoofdsponsor Essent en rugsponsor Energy Valley Topclub hebben namelijk aangeboden hun uitingen op het shirt van FC Groningen voor het Eredivisieduel met FC Utrecht beschikbaar te stellen aan het goede doel. Speciale shirts Tijdens de wedstrijd zullen de spelers van FC Groningen speciale shirts met het logo van Make-A-Wish Nederland dragen, zowel op de voorzijde als op de achterzijde van het groen-witte shirt. “Dat is natuurlijk een fantastisch gebaar”, kan algemeen directeur Hans Nijland van FC Groningen niet genoeg benadrukken hoe groot deze geste van Essent en de Energy Valley Topclub is. Tevens zal Make-A-Wish Nederland overal in het stadion duidelijk zichtbaar en aanwezig zijn, zoals op de eveneens door Essent ter beschikking gestelde ruimte op de LED-boarding langs het veld en op de backdrops voor de media-interviews. Groningen Topsport Ook de drie andere Groningse topclubs binnen het samenwerkingsverband Groningen Topsport, te weten de basketballers van GasTerra Flames, volleybalclub Abiant/Lycurgus en de korfballers van Nic./Alfa College nemen aan deze bijzondere actie deel. Ook bij deze topsportclubs zal bij hun eerstvolgende thuiswedstrijd op de rug de uiting van Make-A-Wish Nederland te zien zijn. De Energy Valley Topclub stelt bij deze drie sportclubs eveneens de achterzijde van het shirt beschikbaar voor dit goede doel.
