Woensdag 21 december tekenen FC Groningen en woningcorporatie Nijestee een samenwerkingsovereenkomst. Het doel van de samenwerking, die al enige tijd vorm heeft, is door middel van projecten de leefbaarheid in verschillende wijken in Groningen te vergroten.
FC Groningen is meer dan een voetclub en Nijestee is meer dan alleen een verhuurder van woningen. Beide organisaties maken zich sterk voor de stad door projecten te organiseren,die bijdragen aan de leefbaarheid van Groningen. Met thema’s als: zorg, welzijn, gezondheid, leren & opgroeien, werk & sociale activering. Kortom: alles wat het leven beter maakt. De FC Groningen Buurt Battles – voetbalwedstrijden door en voor de wijk – en Kids United, het onlangs door FC Groningen geadopteerde G-Voetbalteam, zijn voorbeelden van projecten waarin de Trots van het Noorden en woningcorporatie Nijestee elkaar al vonden. FC Groningen in de Maatschappij FC Groningen participeert in veel maatschappelijke projecten en neemt actief deel aan allerlei initiatieven. Om zowel de vele verzoeken te bundelen en structuur te krijgen in alle maatschappelijke projecten en activiteiten als ook alle aanvragen professioneel in behandeling te nemen en uit te voeren, heeft FC Groningen sinds 17 september 2010 de Stichting FC Groningen in de Maatschappij in het leven geroepen. Onder deze vlag zijn onder meer alle maatschappelijke projecten en activiteiten ondergebracht. Eén van de doelstellingen van de stichting is om zoveel mogelijk gelden te genereren voor goede doelen en invulling te geven aan het maatschappelijke gezicht van de club. Nijestee Nijestee is de grootste corporatie van Groningen. Met 13.500 biedt Nijestee wat te kiezen voor haar huurders. In bijna elke wijk van de stad heeft Nijestee woningen voor ongeveer 30.000 huurders. Maar het blijft niet bij het verhuren van woningen alleen. Goed wonen betekent ook wonen in een buurt waar het prettig leven is. Nijestee draagt daarom bij aan projecten die de leefbaarheid in de wijken vergroten. Nijestee is een maatschappelijk betrokken organisatie, die sterk inzet op participatie van en door bewoners. De samenwerking met FC Groningen past hierin.
