De supporters van FC Groningen hebben gisteravond voorafgaand aan de wedstrijd FC Groningen - NEC kennisgemaakt met de Groningse versie van Love to Ride. Dit is een wedstrijd waarbij het fietsen naar het werk en ook naar het Noordlease Stadion wordt gestimuleerd. Supporters en andere Groningers die het vaakst de fiets pakken, maken kans op speciale FC Groningen-prijzen.
FC Groningen heeft gezondheid en duurzaamheid hoog in het vaandel staan. In samenwerking met Groningen Bereikbaar, de Energy Valley Topclub en HEALTH i PORT steunt de club het initiatief Love to Ride.
Prijzen
Deelnemers kunnen zich aanmelden via www.lovetoride.net/groningen. Tussen 5 april en 16 mei kan men via de app van Love to Ride de fietsritten registreren. Zo maken zij kans op de prijzen. Supporters, die mee doen aan de FC Groningen-competitie, kunnenFC-prijzen winnen waaronder een gesigneerd wedstrijdshirt seizoen 2017/2018, een VIP-arrangement voor 4 personen of een gesigneerde FC-bal. Bedrijven kunnen meedoen aan de bedrijvencompetitie, waarbij ze kans maken op een arrangement voor 25 personen bij een thuiswedstrijd van FC Groningen. Bovendien valt er elke maand een VIP-arrangement voor 2 personen te winnen.
Slim onderweg voor een bereikbaar Groningen
Wilko Huyink, directeur Groningen Bereikbaar, is blij met het gezamenlijke initiatief. 'De komende jaren wordt er in de stad gewerkt aan de wegen en het spoor. De bereikbaarheid zal hierdoor tijdelijk verslechteren. Wij stimuleren mensen na te denken over alternatieven voor de auto. Dit initiatief in samenwerking met FC Groningen draagt daar zeker aan bij'.
Ook Hans Nijland, algemeen directeur van FC Groningen, ziet het belang van de actie. 'Ook wij als club gaan hinder ondervinden van de werkzaamheden. Deze fietscompetitie stimuleert onze supporters op wedstrijddagen, maar ook doordeweeks, de fiets te pakken. Elke supporter die dit doet helpt niet alleen mee de overlast zoveel mogelijk te beperken, het is bovenal ook heel gezond. En dat past uiteraard uitstekend bij onze club waar duurzaamheid en bewegen hoog in het vaandel staan.'
