In de derde ronde van het KNVB-bekertoernooi speelt FC Groningen een thuiswedstrijd tegen Topklasser Capelle. Het duel zal worden gespeeld op dinsdag 29, woensdag 30 of donderdag 31 oktober.
FC Groningen bereikte woensdagavond de laatste-32 van het toernooi door een 2-0 zege bij het Amsterdamse AFC. Tegenstander Capelle won in de tweede ronde na verlenging met 1-0 van Almere City FC en schakelde in de eerste ronde Chabab uit met een 4-1 zege in Capelle aan den IJssel..
De definitieve speeldatum van Groningen-Capelle wordt begin volgende week door de KNVB vastgesteld. Het duel zal worden gespeeld op dinsdag- 29, woensdag- 30 of donderdagavond 31 oktober in Euroborg.
Capelle is de huidige nummer 2 van de Zaterdag Topklasse en eindigde de afgelopen seizoenen achtereenvolgens als zesde, tiende en zevende in die divisie. Het was in 2010 overigens de eerste club die zich plaatste voor de Topklasse.
Capelle neemt voor de dertiende keer deel aan het KNVB-bekertoernooi en reikte in 2009 al eens eerder tot de laatste-32. Destijds was FC Twente te sterk met 3-0.
