In de Nike Eredivisie behaalden de A-junioren van FC Groningen in de midweekse confrontatie tegen ADO de drie punten.
ADO DEN HAAG A1 0-1 FC GRONINGEN A1 0-1 Stan Haanstra (16.) opstelling FCG A1 Erwin Heidekamp, Tim Riksman, Twan Nieboer, Mohammed Abdoel Karim, Dennis van Duinen, Marijn Ploem, Matthijs Hardijk (82.Mehmet Gencer), Gerald Postma, Stan Haanstra (85.Nagesh Amatsaleh), Ozan Kokcu (77.Rutger Etten), Joey Salden.
Voor de ploeg van trainer Peter Hoekstra was het de eerste zege van dit seizoen. De enige en winnende treffer werd na ruim een kwartier spelen gemaakt. Uit een hoekschop van Matthijs Hardijk kopte Stan Haanstra raak (zie foto). In het eerste half uur vielen een aantal halve kansen te noteren. Vlak voor rust stuitte Hardijk, na een aanval via Abdoel Karim en Haanstra, op de doelman. De thuisploeg zag een doelpunt wegens buitenspel afgekeurd. In de beginfase na rust kreeg ADO een aantal corners maar daaruit werd niet gescoord. Na een rush van Salden kreeg Hardijk een prima mogelijkheid maar hij schoot over. Daarnaast verrichtte doelman Heidekamp nog een prima redding door een inzet uit de bovenhoek te tikken. Dankzij veel strijd en passie kon de overwinning over de streep getrokken worden.
