De 35ste editie van GasTerra voetbal zal zaterdagmiddag 11 juni van start gaan in Euroborg. De finale is terug op de Pinkstermaandag en wordt gespeeld op maandag 13 juni op de Esserberg in Haren.
Naast Valencia (Spanje), Botafogo (Brazilië) en Houston Dynamo (Verenigde Staten) slaagde de organisatie erin Schalke 04 (Duitsland) en Olympique Lyon (Frankrijk) te strikken. Naar twee andere buitenlandse teams wordt nog gezocht. PSV, Feyenoord, Heerenveen, FC Twente en titelverdediger FC Groningen zijn de overige deelnemers.
Het toernooi dat sinds 1990 liefst 21 keer op de vrijdagavond aanving, gaat een nieuwe koers varen. Op zaterdagmiddag 11 juni start het toernooi namelijk in Euroborg en het Cambuur-stadion. ‘s Avonds wordt gespeeld op de Marsdijk in Assen. Door deze stap hoopt de organisatie met name meer jeugd naar het toernooi te krijgen.
Zondag 12 juni verplaatst het toernooi zich naar De Esserberg in Haren. GasTerra Eurovoetbal vindt voor de 35ste keer plaats met Pinksteren, waarbij de finale nu dus weer terug is op de traditionele Pinkstermaandag, 13 juni 2011.
