Essent is dit seizoen hoofdsponsor van de Supportersvereniging FC Groningen. Onlangs hebben voorzitter John Schurer en bestuurslid commerciële zaken Berry Douwes met Essent een overeenkomst gesloten, die de energieleverancier voor minimaal één seizoen aan de Supportersvereniging verbindt.
Essent wil als hoofdsponsor van FC Groningen de band met supporters van de club graag verstevigen en ondersteunt de Supportersvereniging met een substantieel bedrag, zodat de vereniging de activiteiten voor ruim vierduizend leden kan uitbreiden. Bovendien stelt Essent een aantal mooie prijzen ter beschikking voor de verloting, die op wedstrijddagen in het Supportershome plaatsvindt. Cadeau Om de nieuwe samenwerking te vieren, komt Peter Terium – topman van RWE, het moederbedrijf van Essent – zondag langs in het Supportershome en biedt hij de vereniging namens zijn bedrijf een cadeau aan. Wat dat precies is, blijft nog even een verrassing.
