Voetbalzender Eredivisie Live heet vanaf 1 augustus FOX Sports Eredivisie. Onder de nieuwe naam zal het voetbalkanaal zich blijven profileren als de thuisbasis van het beste van het Nederlandse voetbal met live uitzendingen van de Eredivisie, Jupiler League en KNVB-beker.
De naamswijziging van Eredivisie Live houdt direct verband met de geplande introductie van een extra digitaal live voetbalkanaal met internationaal topvoetbal: FOX Sports International. Om beide zenders herkenbaar aan te kunnen bieden is er met FOX Sports gekozen voor één overkoepelende merknaam. Eredivisie Media & Marketing FOX Sports Eredivisie en het nieuw te lanceren FOX Sports International worden beiden geëxploiteerd door Eredivisie Media & Marketing (EMM), het mediabedrijf van FOX International Channels, de 18 Eredivisieclubs, de KNVB en multimediabedrijf Endemol.
FOX Sports Eredivisie blijft de thuisbasis van het beste van het Nederlandse voetbal. Met drie kanalen boordevol live voetbal uit de Eredivisie, Jupiler League, KNVB-bekertoernooi en Nederlandse clubs in de UEFA Europa League, gepresenteerd door onder anderen Jan Joost van Gangelen, Kees Jansma en Toine van Peperstraten. Extra zender Directielid Alex Tielbeke zegt over de ontwikkelingen rond Eredivisie Live: “Vanaf 1 augustus is het beste van het nationale voetbal te zien op FOX Sports Eredivisie. Vandaag kondigen we echter niet alleen een naamswijziging aan, maar introduceren we met FOX Sports International onder dezelfde merknaam een nieuwe, extra zender met internationaal topvoetbal. Om de synergie tussen beide zenders goed uit te drukken en voor voetbalfans een zo hoog mogelijke mate van herkenbaarheid en overzicht te realiseren, is dit het juiste moment voor Eredivisie Live om de volgende fase in te gaan onder de gemeenschappelijke vlag van FOX Sports.” Veel extra’s Naast de honderden live wedstrijden blijft er op FOX Sports Eredivisie ook veel extra’s te zien, zoals samenvattingen, Club TV van alle Eredivisieclubs, 90 Minutes en boeiende voetbaldocumentaires.
FOX Sports International biedt de fans vanaf 17 augustus een extra mogelijkheid om over twee kanalen ook een breed aanbod van internationaal topvoetbal rechtstreeks te ontvangen in de huiskamer. Met exclusief de Barclays Premier League, Serie A, FA Cup, League Cup, Coppa Italia, DFB Pokal en UEFA Europa League (met uitzondering van Nederlandse clubs).
EMM voert momenteel gesprekken met alle TV-aanbieders in Nederland over de doorgifte van FOX Sports Eredivisie en FOX Sports International.
