Drie van de vier bovenbouwteams van RVO FC Groningen/Cambuur spelen komend weekeinde de eerste bekerwedstrijden van dit seizoen.
Anders dan in voorgaande seizoenen spelen A1, B1 en B2 meteen een knockoutwedstrijd. Op Corpus den Hoorn speelt FC Groningen B1 thuis tegen FC Utrecht B1. Aan het begin van de voorbereiding werd een oefenwedstrijd op Zoudenbalch nog met 2-1 gewonnen. Het vlaggenschip gaat op bezoek bij de A2 van Feyenoord terwijl de onder-16 ploeg de uitwedstrijd tegen Alphense Boys B1 speelt.
Voor FC Groningen C2 start aanstaande zondag reeds de competitie. De ploeg van trainer Gerard Wiekens gaat op bezoek bij Ajax C2.
