Gisteren speelde de FC in eigen huis een rematch van de bekerfinale van vorige week. De overwinning bleef uit, FC Groningen verloor met 0-1. Groningen staat nu op een gedeelde achtste plek samen met Willem II.
De eerste helft speelde de FC goed en werden er verschillende mogelijkheden tot een doelpunt gecreëerd. Tot scoren kwam het echter niet. Na de rust trok PEC Zwolle de wedstrijd meer naar zich toe. Uiteindelijk was het Thomas Necid die het doel wist te vinden, hij maakte in de 74ste minuut een doelpunt: 0 – 1. FC Groningen deed nog tot het einde van de wedstrijd moeite om de gelijkmaker erin te schieten, maar dit is helaas niet gelukt.
Zondag 17 mei wordt de laatste wedstrijd van het seizoen gespeeld, uit tegen NAC Breda. Die wedstrijd begint om 14.30 uur.
Voorafgaand aan de wedstrijd liepen er 14 Junior Club leden met een speler, scheids- of grensrechter het veld op. Dat waren: Steyn Bulthuis, Mart Ebels, Jort de Witte, Lex Reinders, Jason Denninger, Ruben Brouwer, Lars Froma, Mees van Manen, Rafaela Erenstein, Levi Hamming, Marijn Kuipers, Robin Tooren, Alec Siegers en Sander Kuipers.
In de rust van de wedstrijd werd de finale gespeeld van de Gasunie Shoot-Out. De deelnemende finalisten waren: Esmee Vogd, Leon Boven, René Dijksterhuis, Stijn Hamstra, Herwin Boskma, Vince Haak en Alex Gorissen. De finale is gewonnen door Esmee Vogd! Gefeliciteerd Esmee met deze overwinning!
