FC Groningen en Ajax hebben overeenstemming bereikt over de verhuur van Daley Blind. De verhuur gaat per direct in en loopt tot en met 30 juni 2010. De verdedigende middenvelder staat nog tot en met 30 juni 2013 onder contract bij Ajax.
Blind, geboren op 9 maart 1990 in Amsterdam, is afkomstig uit de jeugdopleiding van Ajax. Hij maakte zijn debuut in de hoofdmacht op 7 december 2008, in de competitiewedstrijd FC Volendam – Ajax (1-2). Hij speelde tot nu toe vijf competitiewedstrijden en één UEFA-Cupduel in het eerste elftal van Ajax.
Voor de winterstop maakte hij deel uit van de selectie van Jong Ajax, dat wordt getraind door de toekomstige trainer van FC Groningen, Pieter Huistra. Blind behoort tevens tot de selectie van Jong Oranje.
Ontwikkelen De nieuwe aanwinst Daley Blind over zijn overstap: “FC Groningen is een goede club. Ze hebben een mooi stadion en een grote en trouwe groep supporters. Om te wonen lijkt Groningen me ook een leuke stad. Ik denk dat het een goede keuze is om me aan te laten verhuren. Ik speel al vanaf mijn zevende bij Ajax, dus ik moest er best even over nadenken. Het is nu aan mij om te laten zien dat ik het niveau van de eredivisie aan kan. Ik wil me verder ontwikkelen en dat kan beter bij FC Groningen dan bij Ajax, waar ik weliswaar bij het eerste trainde, maar mijn wedstrijden voornamelijk bij Jong Ajax speelde.”
