Vol enthousiasme stonden de D-pupillen van SV De Heracliden afgelopen zondagavond op de middenstip van FC Groningen hun helden aan te moedigen. Tijdens de laatste play-offwedstrijd tegen AZ Alkmaar wapperden de jonge voetballers vlak voor het eerste fluitsignaal in een uit zijn voegen barstende Euroborg met het megashirt van hoofdsponsor Essent.
Voor de jonge fans was het een ervaring om nooit te vergeten. Onder hen was Ruben Slager (11 jaar): ‘Ik vond het helemaal leuk! Vooral toen de Z-Side helemaal los ging. Wat een geschreeuw op de tribune’. Rick Tiekstra (13 jaar) vult aan: ‘Het was erg leuk, maar ook wel spannend. Er waren heel veel mensen.’
FC Groningen won met 3-0 van AZ en kwalificeert zich hiermee na zeven jaar weer voor Europees voetbal.
Het team van de voetbalclub uit Uithuizermeeden was te gast op uitnodiging van energiebedrijf Essent. Gedurende het hele seizoen nodigde de hoofdsponsor van FC Groningen jeugdteams uit de regio uit om de profs aan te moedigen vanaf de middenstip.
