Zaterdagmiddag is FC Groningen D2 - BV Veendam D1 de wedstrijd van de week. Het duel begint om 12.15 uur op Corpus den Hoorn. D2 kan mogelijk kampioen worden. De B1 speelt om 14.30 uur tegen Vitesse/AGOVV en kan handhaving afdwingen.
Voor de A1 geldt dat de ploeg zich in de uitwedstrijd tegen Vitesse/AGOVV (14.30 uur) juist kan veiligspelen. De C2 speelt om 13.00 uur uit bij RKC Waalwijk. D1 neemt het in Doetinchem op tegen De Graafschap D1.
De wedstrijd van de week tussen FC Groningen D2 en BV Veendam D1 heeft een zeer bijzonder tintje. De jeugdopleidingen van beide clubs gaan volgend jaar samen en dus is de wedstrijd het allerlaatste onderlinge jeugdduel tussen beide Groninger BVO’s.
Voor D2 staat er veel op het spel. Twee speelronden voor het einde van de competitie heeft de ploeg van trainer Peter Hoekstra een voorsprong van één punt op titelconcurrent Flevo Boys. Die ploeg speelt zelf om 10.30 uur thuis in Emmeloord tegen GVAV-Rapiditas. Indien de ploeg verliest, kan FC Groningen D2 door een zege op BV Veendam D1 kampioen worden. Bij elk ander resultaat wordt de titelstrijd op zaterdag 2 mei pas beslist.
