FC Groningen heeft kennis genomen van het rumoer dat is ontstaan over het toekomstige gebruik van Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn. Bij de herinrichting van het sportcomplex moeten alle toekomstige gebruikers van de accommodatie tevreden worden gesteld. De Trots van het Noorden stelt zich in de gesprekken hierover constructief op en wil met de betrokken partijen tot een passende invulling van alle activiteiten komen.
Zoals wellicht bekend, krijgt Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn met de herinrichting een grootschalige renovatie. FC Groningen legt drie eigen velden aan. Deze velden zijn een moderne combinatie van natuur- en kunstgras. Voor de op het complex gevestigde verenigingen worden vier bestaande velden aangepakt. Intensiever Door de aanleg van nieuwe kunstgrassportvelden en kleedkamers kan het complex intensiever worden gebruikt door de reeds aanwezige verenigingen. Tegelijkertijd geeft de trainings-aanwezigheid van alle FC Groningen-elftallen een enorme impuls aan de amateurverenigingen op het complex. De breedtesport profiteert dus extra door deze herinrichting.
Volgens planning gaat FC Groningen vanaf medio 2015 met alle elftallen trainen en – op het eerste elftal na – tevens wedstrijden spelen. Met de aanleg van de velden is reeds begonnen. Aangezien één van de nieuwe velden op de plek komt van de opstallen van Gronitas, diende het clubgebouw van deze amateurclub te wijken. De aanleg van dit en alle andere velden is nu al noodzakelijk om deze vanaf medio 2015 optimaal te kunnen bespelen, ook door de overige gebruikers van het complex. Passende planning Ondertussen is FC Groningen met de overige sportverenigingen en de gemeente in gesprek om tot een passende planning voor alle trainings- en wedstrijdactiviteiten te komen en waarin alle gebruikers zich kunnen vinden. FC Groningen gaat dan ook niet mee in de geluiden als zou de profclub een te zware stempel drukken op het complex en de amateurclubs mindere zeggenschap of beperktere mogelijkheden zouden hebben. De opstelling van FC Groningen in de gesprekken die worden gevoerd, is zowel professioneel als constructief. Wat FC Groningen betreft is het voor alle gebruikers wél schikken, maar zeker níet stikken.
