Een combinatieteam van FC Groningen heeft dinsdagmiddag op Corpus den Hoorn met 2-1 verloren van een combinatieteam van SC Cambuur. Bij rust stonden de Leeuwarders met 2-0 voor. Tim Freriks benutte in de tweede helft een strafschop en maakte daarmee de eretreffer voor de thuisclub.
Op Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn trad FC Groningen aan met voornamelijk de spelers die afgelopen weekend niet in actie kwamen als basisspeler in het eerste elftal of Jong FC Groningen. Michael Breij maakte zijn rentree na een blessure.
Bij SC Cambuur stonden diverse spelers van het eerste elftal binnen de lijnen, aangezien SC Cambuur 2 vanavond de wedstrijd in de reservecompetitie tegen Go Ahead Eagles 2 afwerkt. SC Cambuur verloor afgelopen weekend thuis met 3-1 van FC Eindhoven. Komende maandag speelt het eerste elftal pas weer, uit tegen Jong PSV.
Op Corpus den Hoorn namen de gasten de leiding door een doelpunt van Robbert Schilder. Nog voor de pauze werd de score verdubbeld door Matthew Steenvoorden. Op slag van rust kreeg Lars Kramer nog een mogelijkheid op de aansluitingstreffer. In de tweede helft bracht Tim Freriks de eindstand van 1-2 op de borden vanuit een benutte strafschop.
