Tolgahan Cicek van RVO FC Groningen C1 heeft dinsdagavond in Assen met het Nederlands Elftal onder-15 gewonnen van Ierland. Na een doelpuntloze eerste helft werd het 2-0.
Cicek stond in het elftal van bondscoach Wim van Zwam opgesteld als linksback. Hij speelde de volle 80 minuten in de interland met Ierland. Door treffers van Jorrit Hendriks (PSV) en Yovany van der Stelt (AZ) won Oranje onder-15.
De ploeg, die uitsluitend oefenwedstrijden speelt, blijft daardoor ongeslagen in het seizoen 2009/2010. Donderdag volgt bij Achilles 1894 in Assen nog een tweede ontmoeting met Ierland.
De groep vormt de basis voor de lichting onder-16 in het seizoen 2010/2011. Een jaar later zal als Oranje onder-17 een kwalificatietoernooi worden gespeeld voor het EK. Youri Ploeger en Glenn Bijl van de C1 behoren tot de schaduwselectie in deze leeftijdsgroep.
