De eerste selectie en staf verblijven deze week in het Duitse Barsinghausen voor een trainingskamp. Vandaag was alweer de derde dag van het trainingskamp, wat zaterdag wordt afgesloten met een oefenwedstrijd tegen Hannover 96. Na de ochtendtraining stond er een leuke middagactiviteit op het programma.
De dag begon voor de selectie met een spectaculaire, maar ook zeer intensieve training, met veel kleine partijtjes. Hieruit volgden veel schitterende goals. Na de kleine partijtjes werd er afgesloten met een grote partij, waarbij er aandacht was voor het druk zetten en de verschillende drukmomenten. Na de lunch was het tijd voor een middagactiviteit. Een tocht langs verschillende locaties rondom het hotel, waar stafleden de spelers verschillende spellen uitlegden. Alle spellen moesten ervoor zorgen dat spelers mentaal uitgedaagd werden. Zo werden er onder andere raadsels opgelost, een quiz gespeeld en gesjoeld.
In Duitsland werkt de selectie onder leiding van trainer Frank Wormuth meerdere oefensessies per dag af. Op zaterdag 9 juli sluit FC Groningen het trainingskamp af met een oefenwedstrijd, tegen Hannover 96. De wedstrijd wordt gespeeld in het Eilenriedestadion in Hannover, de aftrap is dan om 14:00 uur.
Tomáš Suslov begint aan zijn vijfde seizoen bij FC Groningen, en is inmiddels uitgegroeid tot een vaste waarde op het middenveld. Suslov kwam onlangs pas terug van vakantie, omdat hij na de competitie nog Nations League-wedstrijden speelde als A-international met Slowakije. De 20-jarige middenvelder blikt in de derde aflevering van Check-In: Barsinghausen terug op zijn vakantie, en kijkt vooruit naar het nieuwe seizoen.
