De selectie en staf verblijven deze in het Duitse Barsinghausen voor een trainingskamp. De trainingsweek wordt aanstaande zaterdag afgesloten met een oefenwedstrijd tegen Hannover 96. Naast selectie en staf is ook een afvaardiging van het communicatieteam afgereisd. Updates over het trainingskamp zijn dagelijks te volgen via de communicatiekanalen van de club.
Een groep spelers en stafleden stapte vanmorgen na een stevig ontbijt op het TopsportZorgCentrum in de bus voor een rit van ruim 300 kilometer. Het gezelschap kwam rond het middaguur aan bij het hotel waarna er werd ingecheckt, geluncht en de eerste training op het programma stond. Alle internationals zijn inmiddels aangesloten bij de selectie die ook is aangevuld met Opleidingsspeler Luciano Valente. De middenvelder speelde de afgelopen twee oefenwedstrijden ook al mee.
In Duitsland zal de selectie onder leiding van trainer Frank Wormuth meerdere oefensessies per dag afwerken. Op zaterdag 9 juli sluit FC Groningen het trainingskamp af met een oefenwedstrijd, tegen Hannover 96. De wedstrijd wordt gespeeld in het Eilenriedestadion in Hannover, de aftrap is dan om 14:00 uur.
Ook het communicatie-team van FC Groningen is afgereisd naar Duitsland. Updates over het trainingskamp zijn dagelijks te volgen via de communicatiekanalen van de club. Door middel van een dagelijkse serie op YouTube, genaamd 'Check In: Barsinghausen', krijgen supporters een uniek kijkje achter de schermen. De eerste aflevering staat nu online.
Performance-coach Frank van der Stelt houdt een oogje in het zeil op het gebied van voeding en lifestyle. In de eerste aflevering van Check In: Barsinghausen geeft Van der Stelt een inkijkje in hoe hij het menu afstemt met het hotel, en welke regels er gelden tijdens het eten. Daarnaast legt hij uit waarom FC Groningen op trainingskamp gaat.
