Gisteravond stond voor FC Groningen de laatste Europese wedstrijd van dit seizoen op het programma. Sporting Braga was de tegenstander van de FC, om 19.00 uur werd er afgetrapt.
Het doelpuntloze duel was volgen Simon Tibbling “misschien wel de beste Europese wedstrijd die FC Groningen heeft gespeeld”. Jammer genoeg heeft Groningen niet genoeg punten binnen gehaald om verder te gaan in de UEFA Europa League.
Bij de drie Europese thuisduels mochten 90 GWB-leden een unieke ervaring beleven. Voorafgaand aan de wedstrijden, tijdens de spelersopkomst, mochten zij het Centre Circle doek vasthouden. Gisteren waren de laatste 30 leden aan de beurt om deze taak te volbrengen en dat is hen goed af gegaan.
Bij deze wedstrijd waren de doekdragers: Danny Wiebenga, Erik Iwema, Rick Leever, Wouter Swieringa, Stefan Eitens, Tom Cazemier, Boyan ter Luun, Martias Roossien, Cynthia Hiemstra, Romano Liu, Jeroen Zijl, Ronald Nobbe, Rick Kazemier, Marit Korringa, Robin Pot, SJH Bijl, Tony de Jong, Melchior Noot, Justin Laferte, Monique Boonstra, Kaelin Staats, Michael Snoek, Richard Ensing, Rick van Heuvelen, Jarno Engels, Frank Pauwels, Mart Koetje, Nieck Dekker, Iris Beumee.
Ook hadden een aantal jonge supporters het geluk om met een speler het veld op de lopen.
