Een viertal jeugdteams van FC Groningen/Cambuur werken hun wedstrijd morgen af op Corpus den Hoorn. Daaronder zijn de puntenwedstrijden van C1 (tegen AZ) en B1 (tegen Excelsior).
De tweedejaars C-junioren behaalden vorig weekeinde drie hele belangrijke punten in de strijd tegen degradatie. FC Twente C1 werd na een enerverende wedstrijd met 5-3 verslagen waardoor de Tukkers op een achterstand van vijf punten werden gezet. Opvallend is met name ook de scoringsdrift van de ploeg van trainer Rick Mulder in de laatste twee duels. Daarin werden maar liefst negen doelpunten gemaakt. Ter vergelijking: in de twaalf duels daarvoor trof de FC slechts elfmaal doel. Het goede spel wordt nu dus ook omgezet in goals en in punten en dat geeft alleen maar meer vertrouwen. Voor komende zaterdag is dat ook zeker nodig aangezien koploper AZ C1 op bezoek komt. De Alkmaarders boekten vorige week op sportpark De Toekomst een 1-2 zege op Ajax C1.
De B-junioren van trainer Peter Moltmaker nemen het op tegen Excelsior B1. De Rotterdammers hebben het lastig en staan in de eredivisie in de gevarenzone. De Groningers staan in de middenmoot maar hebben de potentie om in het klassement nog enkele plaatsen te stijgen. De ploeg kent echter een wisselvallig seizoen waarbij goede resutaten gemakkelijk worden afgelost door tegenvallende prestaties. In het laatst gespeelde duel tegen FC Twente B1 had er veel meer ingezeten. De koploper won op Corpus den Hoorn met 1-0 maar grote delen van de wedstrijd werden gedomineerd door de thuisploeg.
