Het C1-team van V.V. Appingedam stond afgelopen zondag tijdens de topwedstrijd FC Groningen – PSV heel even op de middenstip van Euroborg. De spelers wapperden er op volle kracht met het Essent-megashirt en moedigden zo de profs van de thuisclub aan.
FC Groningen won de spectaculaire topper in eigen huis met 1-0 door een doelpunt van Filip Kostic, kort na rust. Elftalleider Huub Oosterbroek van Appingedam had in alle opzichten genoten van de middag. “We wilden graag komen wapperen voor de teamspirit in onze C1. Maar ook om van dichtbij te zien hoe je moet samenwerken voor de winst.”
Wat dat betreft werd Oosterbroeks team op de wenken bediend, want de zege van de thuisclub werd binnen gesleept met strijd, passie en hartstocht. Wapperen op uitnodiging van hoofdsponsor Essent De C-spelers van de Damster club waren aanwezig op uitnodiging van energiebedrijf Essent. Iedere thuiswedstrijd biedt de hoofdsponsor van de Trots van het Noorden een jeugdteam van een amateurclub, aangesloten bij het Amateurconvenant FC Groningen, de kans om de profvoetballers vóór de wedstrijd van heel dichtbij aan te moedigen.
