De selectie van FC Groningen voor het uitduel met Vitesse is op één plek gewijzigd ten opzichte van die van afgelopen zondag tegen Ajax. Zaterdagavond om 19.45 uur trapt de FC af in het Gelredome.
Naast het langdurig geblesseerde zestal Sepp De Roover (kruisband), Petter Andersson (kruisband), Ondrej Svejdik (kruisband), Jeffrey Rijsdijk (knie), Theo Lucius (kuitbeen), Danny Holla (kuitbeen) zijn er nog drie andere blessures: Morten Nordstrand (lies), Luciano da Silva (knie), Mike Zonneveld (achillespees). Gibril Sankoh is een duel geschorst.
Vanuit de Beloften zijn Leonard Nienhuis, Frank Olijve, Koos Werkman en Darryl Lachman toegevoegd aan de eerste selectie.
Trainer Ron Jans over de wedstrijd: “We willen opnieuw laten zien wat de kracht van FC Groningen is in het jaar 2010. Tegen Roda JC speelden we niet goed, maar wonnen we. Tegen Ajax hebben we de eerste helft degelijk gespeeld en werden we na rust weggeblazen. Nu is er behoefte de draad op te pakken en de stijgende lijn richting de play-offs weer in te zetten.”
