Jong FC Groningen heeft maandagavond op Corpus den Hoorn met 1-0 verloren van Jong Sparta Rotterdam. Charles Dissels maakte na ruim een uur de enige treffer.
De Rotterdammers maakten vol van de gelegenheid gebruik om vijf dispensatiespelers te gebruiken. Bij de FC speelden de bankzitters van afgelopen zaterdagavond mee. FC Groningen speelde een sterke eerste helft en zag tweemaal een kans de mist in gaan. Pepijn Kluin in de beginfase en Dennis Krohne in de slotfase werden binnen de zestien meter gevloerd, maar kregen geen strafschop.
Na de pauze werd bij beide ploegen een wissel toegepast. Oluwafemi Ajilore kwam aan de kant van de thuisploeg in de plaats van Robert Pomstra. Na ruim een uur spelen nam Charles Dissels een schot van de rechterkant dat kort bij de eerste paal langs doelman Leon ter Wielen suisde: 0-1. In het laatste kwartier kwam Ridouan Tabaouni in de plaats van Paul Matthijs.
In het slotoffensief kreeg Darryl Lachman nog een enorme kopkans uit een spelhervatting van Shkodran Metaj. Ook Tabaouni had even te voren nog de gelijkmaker kunnen binnen schieten. Door de zevende nederlaag van het seizoen zakte de FC van de tiende naar de elfde plek. Komende maandag gaat de ploeg van trainer Erwin van de Looi op bezoek bij Willem II, de nummer 6 van de ranglijst.
