Jong FC Groningen speelt vanavond, maandag 27 augustus, op Corpus den Hoorn een thuiswedstrijd tegen Jong AZ. De ploeg van trainer Dick Lukkien is op jacht naar een plek bij de eerste vier in Poule A van de Beloftencompetitie.
Na de zege op Jong FC Volendam (2-0) en het gelijkspel bij Jong Ajax (0-0) ligt FC Groningen prima op koers voor het bereiken van de Eredivisie. Tegenstander Jong AZ heeft met winst op Ajax en een verlies bij De Graafschap één punt minder na twee van de zeven speelronden.
Maandagavond op Corpus den Hoorn is Jong AZ de derde tegenstander van Jong FC Groningen. Verder spelen Heerenveen, NEC/Oss, De Graafschap en PEC Zwolle in Poule A. In de afgelopen zes seizoenen wist Jong FC Groningen vijf van de zes thuisontmoetingen met Jong AZ in een zege om te zetten.
In deze editie zal Dick Lukkien een beroep doen op zes spelers uit de A-selectie, te weten Marco Bizot, Paco van Moorsel, Tim Keurntjes, Henk Bos, Suk Hyun-Jun en Matias Jones. Ook Niek Loohuis van SC Veendam zal zijn opwachting maken. Het duel begint om 18.30 uur op het hoofdveld van GRC op Sportpark Corpus den Hoorn. Toegang is zoals gebruikelijk gratis.
