Donderdagavond 9 augustus speelt Jong FC Groningen op Sportpark de Koepel in Haren een oefenwedstrijd tegen Werder Bremen onder-23. Het duel begint om 18.30 uur.
De ploeg van trainer Dick Lukkien bereidt zich voor op de competitie, die aanstaande maandag begint met een thuiswedstrijd tegen FC Volendam.
Potveer op bank Veendam Vierde doelman Joey Potveer zal vrijdagavond 10 augustus deel uitmaken van de selectie van SC Veendam, dat in de Jupiler League opent met een uitwedstrijd tegen Sparta Rotterdam.
De 20-jarige doelman speelt op amateurbasis bij Jong FC Groningen. Door de blessure van doelman Te Loeke kwam SC Veendam met het verzoek hem af te staan. Door het feit dat FC Groningen met SC Veendam een samenwerking heeft omtrent het Beloftenteam, is deze constructie mogelijk.
Mocht Potveer speelminuten gaan maken in een officiële wedstrijd voor SC Veendam, mag hij tot de winterstop niet meer bij het eerste elftal van FC Groningen in de selectie worden opgenomen. Hij blijft in dat geval uiteraard wel speelgerechtigd voor Jong FC Groningen, dat behalve met SC Veendam ook met SC Cambuur een soortgelijke samenwerking heeft.
